Scary_landing_at_Juneau.wmv

September 2003. This was a scheduled flight from Haines but as only Jan and I had booked onto the flight the airline put on a light aircraft. The pilot was an interesting chap, and when we approached Juneau International Airport there was no radio contact and we didn't get permission to land. Instead, he looked around to see if the air was clear, then we approached the runway at 90 degrees part way along it's length before banking steeply at the last minute and touching down perfectly. Then there was a burst of radio contact that we couldn't hear - presumably the control tower congratulating him on his originality.
