Murmuration, RSPB Mersehead, 27.01.2017

This was the most spectacular murmuration we have seen - thanks to the warden at the visitor's centre who tipped us off. The starlings started to arrive in small groups just before 4 pm and the show went on for 57 minutes with more birds arriving all the time. Then the swirling clouds seemed to intensify in a crescendo just before the whole flock crashed down to roost over about 30 seconds. Music is my own composition - reflection for clarinet and piano.
