Paris Attacks Audio Feature

It had been one week since the fatal terrorist attacks on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 left 130 dead and hundreds more wounded in Paris. When I conducted these interviews at the Place de la République, the city was slowly returning to normal, but the entire world was still shaken up. French culture, it seemed, had become a victim of war. But the people of Paris, of France, and of Europe as a whole, refused to let the Islamic State taint the reputation of the beautiful city.

Now, it has become a new normal for Europe to expect terror alerts and for cities so far spared to anticipate violence. In just over a year three European cities have been ravaged by bombs and gunfire--Paris, Copenhagen, and Brussels.

As citizens of the world, it is our duty to keep ISIS from winning.
