Modulations - John Beck Timpani Solo Performed by Stephen Clark

As suggested by the title, this timpani solo by renowned percussionist John Beck is built around modulations. Featuring mainly metric modulations, the piece also incorporates tuning changes and sharp dynamic changes. A timpani solo that never becomes boring, “Modulations” cycles through a jazz section and builds to a fast and exciting ending.

This performance (Oct. 26, 2014) was part of my Senior Recital, required for my Music Performance degree at Reinhardt University.

Audio was recorded by a pair of condensers over the center of the stage.
