3 Reasons Why You Feel AWKWARD Behind Your Kit

One time I was playing this gig, and even though I had practiced at home and knew all the parts, nothing felt right in the moment. My snare rimshots weren’t happening consistently. My attempts to “ride” on the 18” crash were almost futile because the cymbal kept swinging with my stick. On top of all of that, my right leg started to hurt. I didn’t realize it right then, but this situation was teaching me to pay a lot more attention to “ergonomics.” That, of course, is what we’re digging into today. How can we make a few simple kit adjustments in order to make a world of difference in our playing? Sometimes practicing alone won’t solve the fact that you feel awkward behind your kit; a lot of times the underlying issue is an ergonomics problem. Don’t settle for an uncomfortable, awkward kit. Take the time to re-evaluate and re-setup your kit today. I hope these 3 tips will get you going in that direction.
