FREE breathing for BJJ course https://www.bjjstrength.com/breathing-for-bjj.html
BJJ and hip mobility go hand in hand. Not only is your ability to move your hips essential to your BJJ game, practicing BJJ will also put a lot of wear and tear on the hips and the surrounding muscles. So, it is super important to your BJJ and long term physical health, so you can enjoy BJJ longer, to keep the hips mobile, healthy, supple and strong.
This routine is a collection of exercises that I used nearly every day and I've organised them into a short 7 minute routine that is perfect for developing hip mobility to compliment your BJJ.
You can use this as part of your warmup before BJJ, after your training, when you're sitting at home watching TV, after a good strength training workout. It can be used anytime and anywhere.
It will target the key muscles in the glutes, hamstrings, hips and groin that impact hip mobility, as well as moving the hip joint through a full range of motion, which is important in keeping the joint strong and healthy.
The exercise flow is:
- Frog squats x 20
- Glute stretch, 5 breaths each side
- Glute switches x 10
- Seated knee rotations x 20
- Groin stretch 5 breaths
- Modified cossack 5 reps each side
- Goblet squat elbow push x 10
- Squat knee rotations x 10
- Cobra stretch 5 breaths
