Geopolitics of Angola

Until recently, Angola was a hotspot for conflict, it was kind of like the Korean War and the Vietnam War, because it played host to a proxy war, in large part affected by the Cold War, where the Soviets took over one side and western alliances took over the other. However Angola is peculiar, because in this war, China actually took a side against the Soviets and aligned with the west. The geopolitics of Angola made the Angolan civil war one of the strange times that the U.S. and China actually fought alongside each other for a common cause. Geopolitics is weird like that. The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend and the friend of your enemy is not always your enemy
