Traveling as a Couple for the First Time in 3 Years | Colorado Springs, CO USA

Annalisa and I recently went on a road trip to Colorado Springs for seven days.

They were seven days spent hiking through the pine forests, riding our bikes through the windy roads at the Garden of the Gods, taking in the mountain views, going to breweries, and sitting around our campfire while drinking wine.

We slept in every morning, leisurely made coffee and breakfast, and got ready for our hikes without any whining, diapers... wait I take that back. There was whining, from the both of us... Colorado Springs mornings were freeeeeeezing!

All jokes aside, we believe it's important to always be working on our relationship. Sometimes that looks like going off on our own for a week but most of the time, that means paying attention to how we behave in the normal day to day.

Not only does it make us better for each other but it also makes us better parents to Elio. We've learned that Elio is ALWAYS paying attention, even when we don't think he is. He understands a lot of what we say and intuits the intent behind our actions.

The better Annalisa and I model what it looks like to express our thoughts and feelings, to talk to and treat each other with kindness, to show affection and gratitude... the more likely our little human will be able to do the same.
