Cancer nurse and industrial engineer quit 6-figure jobs to travel with baby
This video is a brief story of our 7-year journey to living our dream life of travel.
Summary: By saving and investing up to 80% of our income for over 7 years, we had enough to quit our jobs to travel full-time with Elio, our baby (now 2.5 years old) in 2020.
---
Early in our careers as a cancer nurse (Annalisa) and industrial engineer (me, Kelvin), we realized that we had taken the wrong path. We wanted to start over but a few things made us stay.
First, we had already invested years of life and tens of thousands of dollars into being able to have the jobs we had.
Second, we worried about what our friends, family, and co-workers would think of us if we left.
And third, we had no idea what we would do with our lives if we were to leave right then.
So, instead we came up with a different plan. We'd learn and grow as much as we could from the careers we'd chosen and use our income to buy our freedom. The idea was to eliminate the NEED to make money by having enough passive income to cover our cost of living. The goal was never to retire early. We wanted to figure life out without the risk of homelessness and starvation.
For over 7 years, we optimized our lives for economic gains, saving and investing up to 80% of our income. Looking back, we're not sure if we would do it the same way. We sacrificed a lot of what we cared about in the name of our financial goal. But we're here now. That's all in the past.
This channel's goal is to share our journey of figuring out how to live a life we can be proud of. Currently, most of the videos are of our travels but who knows what we'll be up to in the future!
