Vandana Shiva – Reclaiming the World We Want – A conversation with Maddy Harland
Vandana discusses the illusion of scarcity versus the abundance of the Earth and Nature’s systems and explains how we are not alone, we are interdependent with and supported by all species of this Earth. She unpacks the 'Poison Cartel', who are they are and their origins, and suggests how we can effectively stand up for a better world.
"Her kind gentleness and humility belies a fierce integrity and a razor-sharp mind that cuts through the mirage of our poison-fed culture with startling precision. There was so much to take in and yet it was so simple to understand. It was a profound experience to be with and listen to her... " Tim Harland, co-founder of Permaculture Magazine.
About Vandana Shiva
Having gained a PhD in quantum theory in the 1970s in her 20s, Vandana decided that instead of following a career in academia, her life would be much better spent in service to the environment and its people. She started by supporting the Chipko Movement, a nonviolent social and conservation movement by rural villagers, particularly women, in India, aimed at protecting trees and forests designated for government-backed logging. Since then she has campaigned and written tirelessly on issues concerning food sovereignty, ecofeminism and anti-globalisation. Vandana is the author of 20 books.
