Perfect your Box Jump Technique with these simple tips
The box jump is an excellent exercise to use for increasing jumping ability and power in the muscles of the legs. It has been used for many years in sports strength and conditioning for this reason. It has also evolved in recent years to become a staple of Crossfit, F45 and various other functional training programs.
However, a lack of technique and poor teaching of this exercise has led to many people developing an injury to their knees or back.
This video we show you some simple tools you can use to learn this exercise and be able to perfect your box jump technique to get maximum results and avoid injury and pain.

It must be noted that box jumps are created from the squat movement. You will notice in the video how we use the squat to set up correctly before attempting to jump. If you have trouble with your squat you are destined for bigger problems with jumping. So before you attempt any power training clean up your squat form. 7 Squats To Build Bulletproof Knees

There are many types of Box Jumps you can use but I always like to start with the easiest ones first and then work my way up to the harder more difficult versions.
You want to eventually progress to several single leg landing versions as these are the exercises that will prepare you to build immense stability & strength in the ankle, hip and importantly the KNEE! If you injured your knee playing sports it is absolutely essential you reach this stage before commencing sport again. If you cannot complete these exercises with complete confidence
you are not ready to play. You will not only play below your ability but you risk injuring your knee again and going back to the beginning.
We use this exercise a lot with sporting athletes returning from ACL surgery and this can be used a good testing exercise to see if they are ready to play.
