A random foreigner and a Muslim wedding in the Philippines! What an experience this was to randomly crash a wedding in Tawi-Tawi. At the last minute, my friends told me we are going to a traditional wedding celebration in Bongao...

So why not!!

After meeting the bride and groom, eating food and having a good time... we headed off on a boat and made out way to a local community along the coast near Bongao Island. Here we met some local friends, went swimming with turtles, enjoyed the relaxed vibes...

AND THEN OUR FRIEND COOKED A BLACK DUCK LECHON!?

Yes, known locally as Piyanggang... this dish is flavourful, unique, and full of all sorts of spices! In fact, the duck is rubbed with burnt coconut making it black. What an experience this was! Whether foreigner or Filipino... Tawi-Tawi is a magical place full of unique moments to be had!
