PHILIPPINES Most SACRED MOUNTAIN? (Canadian Exploring Tawi-Tawi)

Is this the most SACRED MOUNTAIN in the PHILIPPINES? Well, there are many mountains that have many different meanings for people in this country... but here in TAWI-TAWI, this is definitely the most sacred. People literally make pilgrimage and climb up here every year. It is said that if you don't, bad luck will come in your life.

Bud Bongao is the mountain peak that stands tall over the busiest island in Tawi-Tawi. You see it everywhere you go, and it holds a special place in the hearts and minds of locals here in this part of the Philippines. Many believe this mountain to be sacred. People from all over will climb here... visiting the graves of different holy men, and giving gifts to the guardians of the mountain...

THE MONKEYS!

Yes, there are A LOT of monkeys that guard this 342 meter tall mountain.

This was an incredible experience exploring this part of Tawi-Tawi, and is literally a must for anyone who visits here!
