CAMPING In TAWI-TAWI With a Filipino Island Community (SAFE?)

We camped over night on an island in Tawi-Tawi. Yes, we stayed in our hammocks and tents, and slept under the stars along the beach. Was it safe? Well, I will definitely say that the community there was wonderful, and I felt at ease the entire time. But, are their dangers around this part of the Philippines? Yes. But we did this trip connected with locals, and under guidance from our local friends at Layag Tawi-Tawi Tour Services.

THIS NIGHT CAMPING WAS AMAZING!

I still can't believe the feeling waking up in my hammock in Tawi-Tawi and heading to the island beach for a morning bath... Incredible! There were so many fish and corals, the vibes were awesome, and the local Filipino community was so welcoming and fun to interact with.

If you decide to travel to Tawi-Tawi, please do contact local tourism first (like the guys from Layag who I was with). But I have to say, I did feel completely at ease and in good hands during this whole experience camping.

Is it safe? Well, there are lots of dangerous things in this world... BUT A LOT MORE GOOD OUT THERE.
