John Deere 400 Hydraulic Motor Disassembly | Sundstrand Series 15 Model 90 Inline Pump

Since I presented my John Deere 400 garden tractor project, many subscribers have sent me emails and commented on my most recent videos for advice and shared video suggestions. I will try to cover most requests throughout my videos and I will always try to respond to comments as soon as possible. The Hydraulic Motor was a video request and I decided to create a disassembly video and a rebuild video. In this video, every angle has been covered and every part has been removed from the hydraulic motor. I created a timelapse video since the disassembly is easier than the rebuild.

Once I clean up all the parts and understand what needs to be replaced, I will get this Sundstrand Series 15 Model 90 Inline motor/pump back together with new parts. I will replace all o-rings and seals since the rubber is over 40 years old! They need to be replaced.

This Sundstrand pump is specifically for a John Deere 400 and various other pieces of equipment out there, use the exact same pump! The Bolens HT20 which I have has The same setup, but the output
gear is larger and it has more teeth. Another option the Bolens has is a relief valve directly in the "Mid-Block" of the Hydraulic Motor. Left & Right are two check valves that tend to go bad over time! I will share a different video on these features once the JD400 hydraulic Motor is rebuilt.
