Typhoon Goni, given the Philippine name Rolly by PAGASA remains a powerful category 5 super typhoon. While intensification has leveled off due to an eyewall replacement cycle, Goni (#RollyPH) still has winds of 185mph/300kph. While Goni (#RollyPH) is near peak intensity, the typhoon could intensify again during the next 12-18 hours before a weakening trend begins as Goni (Rolly) makes its final approach to Luzon and Bicol in the Philippines. However, Goni will still likely be a major typhoon when making landfall, and could still be a super typhoon or category 5 if it moves slightly north of current expectations.
