Bortkiewitcz - Etudes Op 15 No 7 & 11 played by Carol Robinson (Duo-Art piano roll)

Sergei Bortkiewitz (1877 - 1952) was a Ukrainian composer of Polish descent, born in Kharkiv. He was very unfortunate to be caught up in many of the upheavals of the 20th century that resulted is his music either being lost or drifting into obscurity.

However, between 1910 and the 1920s a number of his compositions were recorded for piano roll. Duo-Art 6889 was issued in July 1925 and represents a superb example of the dynamic coding the system achieved in later rolls. Only 2 rolls by Carol Robinson were issued for the Duo-Art.
