Lady, Be Good selection - the "1926" orchestra (Percival Mackey)

A wonderful long (2 12" sides) selection from the British production of "Lady, be Good" including songs introduced for the London run. (1) Oh, Lady be good / Hang on to me / I'd rather Charleston (2) Fascinating rhythm / The half of it dearie blues / Little jazz bird / So am I

The "1926" orchestra was a pseudonym for Percival Mackey and here features his characteristic piano solos . Recorded in London, 14 and 28 April 1926 (takes 6 and 8 being the issued ones, the latter requiring a third session to achieve hence the separate dates). George Gershwin recorded pieces from the show with Fred and Adele Astaire that month in the same Columbia studios.

Transferred from an original record in the Adam Ramet collection
