History of Disneyland and its Railroad
Walt Disney was totally into model railroads and live steam railroading before building Disneyland. He had a circle of close friends who were into live steam, most also worked at the studio. Disney built, with the help of these friends, an o scale railroad in his office and later a railroad in his backyard. The Carolwood Pacific was Disney's back yard railroad and in many ways was the motivation for building Disneyland. Two of Walt's circle of friends also had backyard railroads and helped motivate Walt in this direction. Ward Kimball was one of these. Watch and see how all this came together as Disneyland.
