The Hotel Transylvania films have proven themselves to be big hits with audiences around the world since the first film opened in September of 2012. With three films as well as a fourth on the way as well as a spin-off television series, video games, graphic novels, and theme park attractions, the franchise has definitely proved that it’s one of the biggest animated franchises out there. The films also contain quite the stack cast with Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan Michael-Key, Joe Jonas, Mel Brooks, David Spade, and Steve Buscemi making up just some of the franchises’ impressive cast. Though it wasn’t always that way, Miley Cyrus was almost the voice of Mavis before leaving the project and being replaced by Gomez. Singer Ceelo Green was the original voice of Murray the Mummy before being replaced by Keegan Michael-Key for the second, third, and fourth films. Sandler and James are also set to depart the franchise before the release of the fourth film Transformania. Quite a bit went into making Genndy Tartakovsky’s silly and spooky animated films, from designing characters that were new takes on classic characters that would resemble the A-listers voicing them, making the environments look authentic and appropriate for the film’s themes and tone, and trying to decide which scenes would end up in the final product and which would end up on the cutting room floor. From musical numbers, opening montages, and the love story between Drac and his late wife Martha, these scenes ultimately got the boot.
