47 Ronin Festival - Chushingura 忠臣蔵 四十七士 Sengakuji, Tokyo

The story of the 47 Ronin is one of the most famous and popular stories in Japan. On December 14, 1702 47 masterless samurai (ronin) attacked and killed their late master's enemy and presented his head to their master's grave.

At Sengakuji Temple in the Shinagawa area of Tokyo they hold a festival to remember the 47 Ronin who are interred there along with their lord.
