Japan Travel - Day in Gyoda Part I: World's Largest Rice Paddy Art

Recently took a daytrip to Gyoda in Saitama with a friend. We visited the park of Rice Paddy Art, a group of ancient tombs known as Kofun, and saw the outside of Oshi Castle in the evening. This is part 1 focusing on getting to Gyoda and the discussing the characters of the Rice Paddy Art.

The Rice Paddy Art of Gyoda holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest rice field artwork since 2015 measuring around 2.8 hectares. In June, locals plant nine varieties of rice to achieve the different hues of the scene when it fully grows. It's viewable from July to mid October.

This year the scene is of Umeomaru a heroic character from the Kabuki play, Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami, and the famous Wave Off Kanagawa by Hokusai which features Mt. Fuji.
