MY MOM MAKES HER FAMOUS JAMAICAN STOUT DRINK

Avri’s mom Georgia is back in the house! It’s been a little while since we’ve seen her and she brought so much stuff for us that Avri joked that she brought all of Brooklyn, NY over to Jersey City, NJ when mom comes to visit. We’ve been waiting so long to see her again and of course to taste her delicious authentic Jamaican cooking as usual. Today, she’s making brown stew chicken with rice and peas, using coconut milk that she made herself and the chicken she browned as well. We will have to do a Jamaican food mukbang one day but we just haven't been able to do that yet!

The surprise of the day is that she also brought Guinness stout beer. She came to make her famous Jamaican Guinness Punch, one of Avri’s favorite beverages that they’ve been drinking since living in Port Antonio in Portland, Jamaica. This drink is one of many traditions that came with the family as a result of moving from Jamaica to the US.

How is Sweet Jamaican Guinness Stout Punch made? Using Guinness stout beer as the base, condensed milk for sweetness, vanilla, nutmeg and ground cinnamon for spices and supligen/nutrament for the milk. Just add all the ingredients to a blender or whisk by hand. Some people add eggs to their drinks but this is not how we do it. It’s a mix of bitter stout and sweet condensed milk, yet served cold. It can be described as a drink somewhat similar to an alcoholic ice coffee but it’s obviously a beer beverage.

Avri’s mom used to work in a bar so she learned a lot of different tips and tricks when it comes to working in a kitchen and mixing drinks.

This drink is not for everyone. It’s one of very few alcoholic beverages that Avri will drink but it’s not at all for Simas as he doesn’t drink alcohol at all. Only one way to find out if you like it - try it and judge for yourself! We read that this drink is also made in other Caribbean countries like Trinidad and Tobago and probably others as well.

Mummy brought a whole bunch of stuff for us, starting with food and ending with a plant stand, clothes for her daughter and a new quilt for us. Georgia also just got her hair done so she’s looking nice and even younger now! Also, much of this video is in English but also mixed in with a Jamaican accent and Jamaican patois. We tried to translate some of it but most of it should be easy to understand for people that are not from Jamaica.

This video is a bit different because Avri was undoing her hair at the time we recorded so Simas is the one that did most of the camera work. Mummy was in her element, cooking up a storm in the kitchen as usual but of course she cleaned up nice.

We’re so happy and blessed to have our parents help us out all the time. This time, Georgia made us enough food to last a few days and let us save a lot of time and money for lunch and dinner. We couldn’t appreciate and thank our parents enough for always looking out for us!
