A team late to the OLYMPICS - fun history of London Games

In 2012 London has become the first city in the world history to host the Olympic Games for the third time. Before 2012, the capital of Great Britain has hosted the largest international sporting event in 1908 and 1948.

During these Games a lot of unusual and funny things have happened. But historians point at one of the most memorable – it is said that in 1908 a whole Russian Olympic team has arrived 12 late to the Games. Such late arrival was a result of a mix-up, as the Russians haven’t started using the Gregorian calendar yet.
