SPECTACULAR Alofaaga Blowholes: unusual travel destination in Samoa

The Blowholes on the Samoan island of Savaii, the access to which lies through the village named Taga offer the visitors incredible natural sight.

Taga Blowholes (known in the international media as Alofaaga Blowholes), which look like long underwater tubes with opening in rocks in the shore, are created by powerful waves. Over the years high pressure waves washed up the tiny cracks in the volcanic rock into a network of tunnels or blowholes.

With every forceful wave the water shoots up the tubes, creating the water jets, which many be seen from the shore. The brave locals sometimes throw coconuts or rocks into the blowholes to see how forceful jets destroy them.

Alofaaga Blowholes belong to our list of unusual places to see.
