Everyone knows that hard work is the key to success. But If you really want your success to skyrocket, you need to work smarter, not harder. Working harder without working smarter can sometimes lead to your success stagnating. There are people with menial physical labor jobs that work very hard but they’re not successful.

Everyone around you is working hard. One way to have an advantage of your competition is to go beyond working harder than them. You have to out think them. You have to have more ingenuity and clever ideas. You have to be an innovator. It doesn’t matter what your field is or what your goal is. There’s always a way to come up with a new fresh idea that will flip the industry on its head. Look at so many recent innovations. Did the Apple invent the phone? No, they just revolutionized it with the iPhone. Did Sony invent game consoles? No, but they found a way to provide better entertainment. Were there search engines before Google? Yes, but Google did it smarter and simpler.

There’s always a new niche or a new approach, but nobody knows about it. Otherwise they would already be doing it. It’s incredibly difficult to think of doing something that no one has ever done before. But it’s a skill that you need to have. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, but you do need to stand out from your peers. And it can be done, even in small ways.

You also have to remember that time is not infinite. There’s only so much work you can do in a day. There’s only so much work you can do as one person. In order to be efficient you have to maximize your time. You have to increase productivity and decrease the amount of time it takes to do something.

Not too mention your energy is limited. You think you have all the motivation in the world to get your goals accomplished, but even the most determined people need rest and recuperation. It’s important to focus your energy on your highest outcome tasks. Do whatever it takes to focus on your specialty and not on menial tasks. If you’re a writer you need to have your hands on the keyboard and not doing anything else. If you’re a salesman you need to be out there talking to people. If you’re an artist, you need your tools in your hands. Either outsource your menial tasks or forget them altogether. Hire someone to do your laundry and go grocery shopping while you build your empire using your unique skills. Chances are if you are watching this video, you are a specialist or self starter. So use your best skills to the most of your ability.
