Spitfire Beer Bombs In World War 2

The Spitfire that carried Beer Barrels/Bombs in World War 2. AKA Modification XXX.

Soldiers need beer as much as they need food and ammunition. Unfortunately during the D-Day landings, beer didn't receive the same priority on supply ships as other "more essential" supplies.

Fortunately, using Modification XXX or The Beer Bomb, the Royal Air Force found a way for the Supermarine Spitfire to transport beer to the font line using external fuel tanks as a modified beer barrels.

The beer bomb, or Modification XXX, was quickly expanded to other types with Typhoon pilots and American P-47 pilots all getting in on the Action!

The beer carrying Spitfires would provide much joy to allied soldiers during some of the toughest moments of the war.
