D-DAY Timeline Part 2 - The Sea

D-Day. June 6th 1944.

Operation Overlord (the Allied invasion of Normandy) saw the Allies landing on 5 beaches in Normandy, Gold, Juno, Sword, Utah and Omaha.

The Americans kicked things off landing on Omaha and Utah. Whilst Utah proved to be relatively successful, Omaha would see some of the toughest fighting on D-Day.

Around an hour later, the British land on Gold and Sword beaches. The Canadians follow shortly afterwards on Juno.

This is not a definitive account of the D-Day landings. There are simply too many incredible stories from the invasion of Normandy to put in a single video.

This video hopefully serves to create a timeline, contextualising the main events from D-Day to create an overall picture of the fascinating story of the invasion of Normandy, the D-Day Landings.
