The U-2 Incident | Gary Powers CIA - Animated War Stories

The U-2 Incident took place in May 1960. The CIA needed intelligence about Soviet Union missile systems and launched a Lockheed U-2 spy plane flown by CIA pilot Gary Powers.

Unfortunately the mission didn't go to plan. Gary Powers and his U-2 spy plane were shot down over Soviet Union territory. The incident had a huge political impact between the Americans and Soviets taking both countries to the brink of a Nuclear war in the Cuban missile crisis.
