This video is about two technologies that had the biggest impact on my teaching and learning. One of them helped me to win educational awards and I presented that work in 55 countries. Both technologies are for free and you can use them in many ways and in this video you will see some examples. ScreenCast-o-Matic a screen recording technologie I have been using for many years and it had a big impact on my career, E portfolio on the other hand has helped me with the courses that I am running at the moment.
ScreenCast-o-Matic I often use for Power-Point slide presentations and you can see an example of one of those in this video. You can create a learning content using this tool very quickly but also you can give a feedback to your students in a very simple way. This technology can be used for any video recording and it can have big impact on learning and teaching. I use, for example, ScreenCast-o-Matic in language learning for speaking activities where my students record themselves talking about something in a different language. Another idea is to use the tool by the students to record themselves when doing a presentation. Moreover, I found this tool very useful for guides when I run my courses.
To summarise ScreenCast-o-Matic is a great tool that can be used in education for:
-giving feedback,
-grammar lessons,
-guides on online courses,
-training videos,
-student reflections,
-making learning content,
-vocabulary practice,
-guides for websites,
-student's recording themselves,
-peer feedback
E-Portfolio is the second technology which I often use to assess my students. The idea is that they can add different pices of work into one place as an evidence of their learning. This could be, for example, thing they have done on their own, activities using tools like Padlet, Wardwall or Google Forms or activities they have done collaboratively using for example Google Docs or Google Slides. The great think about E-Portfolio is that for me as a teacher I can go onto my students' work and do some marking without searching for things. All the reflextions, individualised and collaborative work is in one place. When using E-Portfolio the formative assessment and the summative assessment are all connected.
Two powerful technologies that had massive impact on my teaching career and which the technique of using it I presented in 55 countries.
