Many of you are probably thinking about learning a new language. In this video I'm going to show you a really good technique that you can use to help practice vocabulary, listening and pronunciation. It is a tip that I don't often see on the internet and if you watch the video through from the beginning you will learn exactly how to do it. This is especially a video for those people who think they are not naturally good language Learners. I've spent a lot of my time learning to study languages and learn them more effectively. Originally I was a very poor language learner but I think I've got better and better and this is one of the most useful techniques that I can demonstrate to language learners.
There were two parts to this video. I focus on the technology called Quizlet. I show you how to use Quizlet and I show you how I always work with Quizlet in sentences. I usually work with the language I want to learn and then translate back into my mother tongue. Once I'm really clear about the language then I change the activity and I look at the language in my mother tongue and try to translate it into the new language. Most people use Quizlet with single words but this is not a good idea. We don't want to practice words in isolation we need to hear and see words in context. So my first tip is always to learn words in sentences.
In the second part of this video I show you a great technique using Google translate so if you are a language learner Google Translate is a free application that you can use that can help you to organize the new vocabulary that you want to study. What I show you in this video is that you can make sentences in your native language and then choose the language that you want to practice. Once you've got enough sentences together you can save them into your Google Translate and then bring them into Quizlet. This is the ideal way to learn to pronounce the language better, listen to the language better and of course learning new vocabulary. In this example you see me showing you precise examples of how I learn polish which is the language that I'm currently learning however I have used this technique for learning French and Spanish and even when I did a year study in Chinese. It really has helped me a lot and it's a much more natural way of learning a language than simply studying Words on their own. We normally hear words in sentences we don't normally hear words in isolation so it's much better to learn vocabulary within a sentence and get used to hearing the word in context.
This technique is going to save you loads of time so if you are learning languages this will show you quick ways of being really effective and efficient in learning a language. I think you're going to find this technique really useful. Another great thing about the technology that I'm showing you or both technologies in fact is that they are both free. This is ideal if you are not a natural language learner but are looking effective techniques. This is a really practical video and is ideal for teachers and students.
Technologies= Quizlet and Google Translate
Idea= Specific techniques for studying vocabulary and developing listening and pronunciation skills
