Howrah New Delhi Duronto Express Speeds Through Andal at 115 kmph!

The Howrah WAP4 hauling the 2273 Howrah New Delhi Duronto Express hits MPS (110-115 kmph) across west-central Bengal! It blasts through the station of Panagarh between Bardhaman and Durgapur, past the Durgapur Steel Plant between Waria and Andal and the ancillary units of the Durgapur Steel Plant. Finally, it whizzes past the fairly large marshalling yard at Andal and Andal station, between Durgapur and Asansol, all the while maintaining a speed between 110-115 kmph! Also featured in this video is a Gomoh WAG9 (Bardhaman station), an Eastern Railways Bardhaman Asansol MEMU (Panagarh station), a New Katni WAG7 and New Katni WAG5, Bardhaman WDM3 and a DMU passenger running between Andal and Sainthia (stationary at Andal station).
When the Durgapur Steel Plant was first constructed in the 1950's, it was the largest industrial unit in West Bengal. The ancillary units which cropped up along with this plant and the proximity of Durgapur with eastern India's mineral belt led to this region being called the 'Rhine-Rhur belt of India. Interestingly, wheels for passenger coaches are produced from this steel plant including those for Rajdhani and Shatabdi rakes.
