Russian Destruction! - 80% of Izium City Unusable - Part 2 - #Ukraine - June 2023 - 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

Arriving in Izium or Izyum on the way to Kostyantynivka, to deliver food and medical aid. This is Part 2 of the drive. Izium was occupied by Russia from April 2022 until September 2022, before it was retaken by Ukraine. Vicious fighting in May to April 2022 before Russia captured the city and then the fight to retake it, has left it destroyed in most places, with much of the city empty and deserted and 80% of residential buildings destroyed.

There are a few residents trying to get on with life who have remained or returned, but it is mostly empty, quiet and deserted, with the main traffic being military passing through. Izium is still only 55kms from the current Russian front line to the East and still suffers occasional strikes.

The drive from Kharkiv takes about 2 hours, around 125kms, slow in some parts owing to diversions and detours and the numerous checkpoints. The road down is surprisingly good most of the way. This was just myself and Max and the car full of aid. Part 3 will cover continuing down to Kostyantynivka.

I am proud to be an official volunteer in Ukraine and continue to support Ukraine with my mates Max and Neil, and a special group (PK) of souls who are now based out of Slovyansk.
