LOST IN BULGARIA! 🇧🇬 | Detour down closed village road | Home safe in ROMANIA 🇷🇴 - TRAVEL

This was heading back to #Romania from Sofia in my mates car and we kind of headed off track a little :))

We ended up getting where we needed to but a little detour down a road that we believe had a prohibited closed sign for danger, but we sort of didn't notice until we thought about it later.

Plan was to drive directly North of Sofia via the Number 16 road that leads into the Vratsa Balkan mountains. Its an awesome way to go with great mountain scenery and the road following the Iskar River the whole way. Then planned to go to #Cherepish Monastery and around the mountains East and then North East back to Romania via Ruse.

So we somehow got on the 81 road heading NNW from #Sofia thanks to Gmaps, then it got interesting when we turned onto the 8102 heading East again and through some nice little villages with nobody around and then somehow onto an old concrete disused, deserted and closed road. It was open but meant to be closed is what I mean. Nobody on it for about 8 kilometres at 20 to 40km/h as it was overgrown and lot of holes, but it was an interesting side adventure through some great scenery.

So now back home in Bucuresti after about a 7 hour drive with stops. Can be done in about 5 and a half if you get a good border cross at Ruse and leave early. I must say on the way back, the Romanian Politia de Frontiera officer was awesome. Processed us just the way he should, courteous, friendly and efficient. Multumesc mult pentru asta.
