Wants vs Needs

This is a critical strategy to financial success. It sounds obvious and simple enough but many of us do not practice it or even think about it.

The first time I heard the concept was 11 years ago. I was listening to a 30hr audio track that was recorded during a 3 day financial seminar. People were paying $20,000 per ticket to go to this event so I figured it had to be somewhat valuable. It changed my life.

I implemented this strategy immediately and the ROI has been incredible.

At the very basic level we all have wants and needs. Things we NEED are water, shelter, food, and basic necessities to live comfortably in today's world. Then there are things we WANT.

You WANT a BMW. You NEED a reliable car.
You WANT a Mansion. You NEED an adequate size home.
You WANT an iPhone XS. You NEED a phone that works.
You WANT a COACH bag. You NEED something to hold your items.
You WANT the new Yeezys. You NEED a pair of comfortable shoes.

It's okay to want and even have nice things. But be careful as to when and how you acquire these things are you may be sacrificing what you truly want and need down the road.

Learn to apply this simple strategy in your life and one day you won't have to choose between the two.
