#Seiko 5S21: Quartz watch with sweeping seconds hand

In 1988 Seiko released cal. 5S21, a quartz movement with a seconds hand that sweeps, just like on mechanical watches. It released an upgraded movement the following year (cal. 5S42) but for some reason stopped development on them.

The closest thing Seiko produces these days is Spring Drive movements, which are mechanical but regulated by a quartz crystal, thereby having a sweeping seconds hand.

Note: This watch (5S21-5A20) is not for sale.
