Moseulpo Port, located in southern Jeju.
The small port bustles with hundreds of thousands of visitors in mid-November every year for the Bangeo Festival.
It is Korea's largest marine festival, themed around the winter delicacy, yellowtail. At this time of year, over 200,000 people flock to Moseulpo to taste yellowtail in season.

Jeju's winters may be harsh, but winter tables are plentiful. Yellowfish are abundant and of the highest quality in Jeju's waters in wintertime, particularly in Moseulpo. The whipping winds and choppy waters toughen the yellowtail, fattened by smaller fish that swarm in the waters. Each day, fishermen are out on the water twelve hours a day from 5 AM to catch yellowtail. What makes Jeju's yellowtail the best in Korea?

Yellowtail has a shorter history in Jeju than other traditional foods, but it has long been considered a delicacy among the Jeju people for its abundant, fatty flesh.
The yellowtail are divided into six or seven cuts to be enjoyed raw as bangeo-hoe. Yellowtail is combined with buckwheat, Jeju's staple grain, to create bangeo memil sujebi (hand-pulled buckwheat noodle soup with yellowtail). It can be found in braised dishes, soups, and stews.

최남단방어축제, 방어
