Lewis Hamilton will have a brand new teammate in 2022 in the form of the young George Russell. There are many who feel that Russell will give Lewis a run for his money in the same car. Valtteri Bottas, who was Hamilton’s most recent teammate, has given his thoughts on this to Sun Sport

Bottas Offers Brutal Truth About Russell’s Chances Against Hamilton

Bottas began by acknowledging that Lewis is hard to beat and explained why

“Beating Lewis is not easy. I have experienced that. It is his consistency in his performances. Every driver's form [goes] a little bit up and down, but his baseline for performance is just so high”

“Even when he has a bad day it is not too bad. It is his consistency over the season”

He further elaborated with a few more strengths possessed by Lewis

“Another of his key strengths is his ability to adapt to different conditions, the skill to react to changes, be it set-up or whatever”

“And he puts in the work, which not many people see, so he is hard to beat”

Bottas then revealed why he is proud of his time as Hamilton’s teammate

“I can be proud that on my day, I’ve been able to beat him. But not consistently enough to beat him over a season”

He signed off by evaluating Russell’s chances against Lewis

“I don’t see anyone else beating Lewis in the near future in the same machinery”

“George will adjust well because he has been with Mercedes for some years but beating Lewis is not easy”
