Another cold front is headed for Texas, expected Thursday night to dip northern areas into the upper 30s to mid-40s, with the greatest impact in the Texas Panhandle. The front will shift winds to the north and briefly keep afternoon highs in the upper 70s to low 80s before temperatures rebound toward 90 by the weekend. North Texas will see milder impact, with highs climbing into the upper 80s later in the week. In South Central Texas, including the Austin–San Antonio area, cooler air will bring a brief relief from the heat, keeping temps in the mid-85s Thursday and Friday and lows around the 70s, but the warm spell returns as weekend heat pushes back above 90. Severe weather threats are expected again Friday through the weekend, with instability and deep-layer shear increasing the risk east of I-35 and north of I-20, and a dryline setting up west of I-35.
