A Southwest Independent School District (SWISD) bus carrying approximately 30 teenage students overturned on Loop 410 South in San Antonio early Tuesday, January 27, around 8:15 a.m. The bus driver and five students were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, though the driver initially required urgent transport.
The remaining students were either picked up by their parents or taken to Southwest Legacy High School. The incident led to the closure of a portion of Loop 410 between FM-2536/Old Pearsall Road and Exit 2, causing significant traffic slowdowns and backups. As of 10:04 a.m., only the far left lane was open, and the frontage road remained closed. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by both the San Antonio Police Department and SWISD police.
