East meets West in a Kitchen in Kuala Lumpur :: WEEK 14
Meeting Faizah and Zainab and their family has been the highlight of our visit to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. After we went to their cooking class and enjoyed a delectable meal of tuna curry, coconut rice, and other Malay food, they invited us to Zainab's home town in Felda Lurah Bilut (it was nice to get out of KL to the country side).
We felt like sharing some of our culture and food with them, and we wanted to do sometime nice too. We asked them if we could come over to their house to use their kitchen so that we could cook Brazilian food for them. Of course, they said yes.
So we went out shopping for all the ingredients for feijoada (Brazilian black bean stew), ensalada rusa (Russian salad), and tapioca (type of tortilla). Just a for your information--it's kind of hard finding black beans in Malaysia :).
So, on the last weekend of our stay in Malaysia, three unique families (we invited our friends, the Wilsons, to join us. You can find them on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/wanderlustfamilylife) got together to eat, talk, and get to know one another.
Remember, Faizah's restaurant is called Restoran Zaza located at--Jalan Raja Laut, Chow Kit, 50350 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur
____________
As a globetrotting family, we have discovered that traveling with kids helps the children enjoy actively witnessing history in the world more than trying to absorb it from a book in a classroom.
We shot this week's footage on an iPhone X. The family travel vlog was created and edited in iMovie and Canva. TubeBuddy was used for technical YouTube guidance.
We'd love if you would join us, world family travelers, for our weekly travel vlog about our global family travel -- Subscribe.
