Jon Bon Jovi | Live at Melbourne Park | Melbourne 1997

Announced as "one show only" in July/August of 1997, it ended up being one of two concerts Jon played with the Big Dogs in Down Under since they paid a visit to Syndey's Entertainment Centre a night prior to this. Jon is in a crazy mood and really determined to put on one hell of a show! Since the band's 1997 US concerts flew almost completely under the radar (also in terms of recordings) and Europe only got a handful of full band gigs that year, I find the setlist to be highly interesting in comparison to what they went on to do in Europe a year later. Stuff like Bed Of Roses or Blood On Blood which Jon used to at multiple acoustic promo shows are played with the full band setup here and were rarely done in that fashion. Furthermore, some songs got "odd" setlist placements in comparison to the concerts a year later. There allegedly were some technical troubles early on with Jon complaining about his guitar not being in tune etc.
I chose to say allegedy because this recording didn't capture it all. The CDs were filled with gaps (2-3 seconds between the songs), meaning that not only they had been edited badly at some point, but also that more than that might've been cut in that process. There's no proper encore breaks etc. to be heard and sometimes it even costs us fractions of seconds from song intros.
The recording itself was middle class at best, pretty noisy and dull. I reworked it to get more clarity and it's a bit wild on the cymbals, especially early on, but Kenny Aronoff might've been the reason for that as well :D He surely is one hell of a dummer!
