Christmas bauble [Steampunk Christmas Tree Ball]

This video is not about a restoration. I wanted to build this Steampunk Christmas tree ball as a bonus to my other video (Christmas tree stand with music boxes). The Christmas bauble consists of gears and my emblem hangs in the middle, from this YouTube channel. My first merchandise ?! ;)

▬ What is being done ?! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

On the template, 50mm diameter hemisphere made of steel, I put the gears and fix them with strong magnets. I soldered the places where the gears touch with solder and a soldering iron, 500 ° C. Since I want my emblem to hang inside the ball, I leave an opening at the back and front so that you can see it clearly. I draw the opening on the template. So I create two halves. I now hold both of them on top of each other to see if it fits, in this case I had to solder a gear. I join the two halves together and spray the finished ball with silver paint from the can. I print out my emblem on a 3D printer, it took about 50 minutes. With a thread I hang the printed compasses on the gearwheel and that together on the Christmas tree ball. Now I decorate the ball with other colored gears, wrap a little chain of lights around it and attach a string to hang it up. The Christmas bauble is ready and sparkles and glitters on my Christmas tree, which is in my restored Christmas tree stand.

▬ Good to know ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Since this Christmas bauble should consist of gears, as my emblem looks like that too, I decided to buy steampunk decoration gears. I made the template to create a perfect round ball on a lathe, it has a radius of 50mm. This is made of normal steel. In retrospect, it wasn't a good decision, because the steel pulled the heat I needed for soldering from the gears, so I sometimes had problems making good soldered connections. The emblem inside is intentionally made up of several parts, so that the individual parts can move and the look is more dynamic. The string of lights that is wrapped around it completes the thing and it all adds up to a wonderful look.

I like the result very much and from now on this Christmas tree ball will decorate our tree, whether my wife wants it or not ...: D

I used the following tools: soldering iron, tin solder, soldering grease, hammer, template for soldering, magnets, silver tin paint, 3d printer, hot glue gun

It took me about 6 hours to restore, without the paint drying time.
