German 'St. Hubertus Glas' binoculars restoration [very damaged leather grip]

In this video I am restoring an old pair of binoculars. I found these, in fact opera glasses or also known as lorgnettes, on Ebay-Kleinanzeigen, a trade market for used goods for just 13€. In this renovation video the priority had the dissembling, polishing of the brass and the stitching of the leather. You will see a perfectly formed patina which has had been hidden under the old and defect leather grip.

▬ What I did ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The dissembling is the first step as always while a restauration of old hidden and found goods. I started with unscrewing all the parts of the binoculars. The old leather grip was damaged and already ripped apart, so I just took it off. With the scalpel I remove the patina by scrubbing it off the opera glasses. The inside of the binoculars was painted black, as I want to renew the whole opera glasses, I remove the old paint with a disk brush. Of course, I want to apply new black paint, so I need to tape off the areas I don’t want to be black. I decided to not paint the whole opera glasses, I aimed to have the brass surface be visible. For that I polished the brass to a high gloss. The grip of the opera glasses gets new leather. I stitched the leather to the grip and reassembled the whole pair of binoculars. For the perfect finish I added a leather strap so I can hang the binoculars around.
