NEW DISCOVERY: 5,000-Year-Old Stone Drum: 'One of the Most Important Pieces of Ancient British Art'

In recent days, many of you may have seen this new discovery reported in the media, a 5,000-year-old chalk drum that was found in the grave of three children in East Yorkshire, England. Known at the Burton Agnes drum, the British Museum has dubbed it one of the most significant ancient discoveries in the UK.

It is very similar to the Folkton drums that were discovered in 1889 in North Yorkshire, objects that have remained a mystery to the experts for more than 100 years.

The new example is the most intricately carved example found, in a fantastic state of preservation, and according to the experts, the specific iconography connects the ancient Neolithic communities of Yorkshire, Stonehenge, Orkney and Ireland.
