Which Roman Leader was Captured by Pirates?

There are so many interesting nuggets of history and none more so than the subject of this video, the fact that, in his early life, a powerful Roman leader was once captured by pirates.

It’s a subject not widely discussed but in the 1st century BC, the Mediterranean Sea had a major problem with pirates. Southern Anatolia, a land rich in history going back many thousands of years was a haven for seagoing bandits.

In this video I tell the short story of the Roman leader who was a prisoner of Anatolian pirates and who wasn't released until the ransom was paid.
