Tesla Model S Trailer Light Wiring DIY install on 2013 Model S 85, More difficult than expected

Since I installed a trailer hitch I also had to install wiring for trailer lights that do not mess with the cars system. This requires the proper signals from the taillights and a separate, fused power source directly from the battery. It turns out the taillights on the EV get individual signals from the body control module and each taillight has a control board built in that processes these signals. This made it a little more difficult to install the taillight adapter from Tekonsha. But I got it figured out. At last I had to find a way to run the positive wire from the battery to the taillight adapter and make sure the fuse was easily accessible in case it would blow. Also I had to make an 4 way flat to 7 way adapter since my trailers have a 7 way RV style plug. This is the common plug on any pick-up truck these days. Then it was finally time to plug my trailer into the new adapter and see if it all works. This video is a guide so you can DIY your own Model S and it may even help with other Electric cars too.
