BETTER THAN US Season 2: Russian-Chinese 2021 Co-Production in China WITHOUT Netflix Involvement

Hey, guys! We got some interesting news about the sci-fi drama series Better Than Us. First, the show has been officially renewed for Season 2. Produced in Russia for Channel One in 2018, it was later purchased by Netflix for international streaming, and became the first ever Russian Netflix Original series. The Russian series about the AI robot with ‘free will’ was very well received by viewers and boasts an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it’s possible that Season 2 of Better Than Us will not be on Netflix and here is why. The creative team is moving the Season 2 storyline to China, which makes sense since we found out that Arisa, the AI robot, played by the beautiful Paulina Andreeva, was designed there. The Russian production company Sputnik Vostok is teaming with a Chinese company to produce the second season. The caveat is that Netflix does NOT operate in mainland China. “Netflix has no involvement in the second season of ‘Better Than Us’,” a Netflix spokesman confirmed. This might or might not mean that Season 2 won’t be streamed on Netflix. 10 new episodes will be shot in Beijing and Moscow in the third quarter of 2021, for a premiere later that year.
