Girls Arise for Change founder Virginia Khunguni explains the impact of COVID-19 on their work

Virginia Khunguni founded Girls Arise for Change to help combat child marriage and sexual abuse in #Malawi through education, psychological and medical support. Now operating across 30 communities, the organisation has helped 3,500 families, and 1765 young women and 600 children to date.

Take a listen to Virginia's update as she explains how the #COVID19 lockdown and school closures have impacted the welfare of young women and girls in local communities, and how Girls Arise for Change has adapted operations to continue to provide support.

Girls Arise for Change received CV-19 emergency funding from QCT, which has enabled them to train and educate 600 ‘distributor agents’ to share accurate COVID-19 information with 7,000 locals. The agents have also made over 4,000 face masks and 3,500 bars of soap to distribute to 32 communities in #Lilongwe.
