Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor ME, is the only national park in the northeast United States. Founded in 1916 as an National Monument, it was designated as a National Park in 1919. John D Rockefeller financed much of the improvements in the park over the next two decades. The rugged New England coast provides breath taking views of the rocky coast and the crashing waves. The highest point on the Atlantic seaboard is Cadillac Mountain, where the sun rises first on the United States. It is an early morning trip, with a cold wind and just a rock to stand on, but is a marvelous sight early in the morning.
